Q: Is there a ghost at the First Baptist Church of Wilmington?
The big brick church "Early English Gothic" style is located on the corner of North 4th St. & Market Street. This church was organized in 1808 , but construction did not begin till 1859. The church foundation holds tons of ship ballast stones discarded from sailing vessels that once crowed the Cape Fear River. On of the best known pastors of the church was John Lamb Pritchard {1862}. Rev. Pritchard stayed at his post during the yellow fever epidemic of 1862. He stay to care and prayed for the sick and dying. He became one of the last victims, dying in November 1862. His Gravesite is located at Oakdale Cemetery.
Local church members say that Rev. Pritchard spirit is still roaming the church's halls. Tells of doors opening & closing, lights that flickers and objects moving are common. One story tells of a church member who saw a man dressed in 1800 type clothing in the Fellowship Hall. When the member tried to get closer the man suddenly was gone.Could this be the ghost?

Q: What is the difference between the Baptist church and the Pentecostal church?
What is the difference between a Joel Osteen's church and the Baptist church?
They are separate, so there must be differences.
A: Well, Joel Osteen isn't really pentecostal ... if you've ever seen a pentecostal worship service you'd agree lol.
Joel is more "non-denominational", in that he doesn't specifically apply to one or another religion.
The Baptists believe in individual interpretation of Scripture, we believe in the independence of each church.
As a practical matter, we do not conduct our services as our more exuberant pentecostal friends do. You might get the occasional amen from the audience, and a hand raised now and then in agreement with a stressed point in the service, but that's about it.
Pentecostals have been known to race around the building and jump up and down in excited glory. They fall on the ground in a faint if touched on the forehead and are more like going to a Benny Hinn service.
Compare Benny Hinn's worship service to Ed Young Sr.'s and you'll get a good idea of the differences.
Q: What is the difference between a baptist and a methodist church?
I grew up in a baptist church but I have always wondered what the difference was between the baptist and methodist churches. In my hometown the two churches would combine services every Thanksgiving so I know that there isn't a big difference.
A: Yeah, I grew up like that too, Except we went to the Methodists church.
I later became a Baptists.
Well, they are a lot alike. The main differences is that the Baptists churches will be far more conservative, and rarely will you see a female pastor. In the Methodist church female pastors are very common and also gay pastors.
Many years ago most of the churches in the USA began to grow more liberal- including the Baptists. However, over the last 30 years or so the baptists seemed to have turned their churches around and have become conservative again. The Methodists have continued their slide into liberalism- especially the United Methodists.
Yes, they are still similar in worship style, just one is lose and the other is tight.
One other thing- the Methodists belong to a controlling denomination. Each church takes orders from a bishop or a higher up official in the national organization. The baptists differ in that they so belong to national groups, but they are autonomous. They take orders from no one. The local church controls the local church.
Q: pastor of first baptist church of ellinwood kansas in 1984?
A: Sorry, I checked, but couldn't find much stable information.
In order to find this info, I suggest you contact the church members themselves, if you can. They'll have records of who was the pastor at any given time.
Q: What is the difference between an Independent Baptist Church and an Apostolic Christian Church? ?
I attended a GARBC (Baptist) church my whole life and now am attending an Apostolic Christian Church because I like it. I have not seen much difference in beliefs yet. Does anyone know if there are any?
A: CJ,
I am Apostolic. The trinity is false. We believe in One God revealed to mankind as three manifestations. Father (Creator) Son (Savior) and Holy Ghost (Spirit) But all these three are one.
The trinity believes there are 3 who are 1. We believe there is 1 who is 3. There is a difference and Oneness IS truth.

Q: Events and rituals of a typical worship service in a Baptist church. What takes place every Sunday?
I'm doing a research paper on the traditions and rituals of a typical Baptist church worship service on Sunday. I went to one, but I get confused on how the sequence goes. So please, can someone who attends a Baptist church regularly, tell me the EXACT tradtions that happen (i.e. readings, songs, prayer, communion) and what order they occur in. This is a big one! Your help will not go unrewarded!
A: You went, and didn't keep the bulletin?
You can download a bulletin here, and it will tell you the service order.
http://www.tri-citybaptistchurch.org/information/bulletin/
Communion is usually only once a month, or once a quarter, in Baptist churches.
