Q: What is the islamic religion really about?
I am curious about the islamic religion. I want to learn about it. Because of 9/11, there is a lot of racism and controversy about islam. I would like to know from people who are islamic, what their religion entails.
A: Mohammed invented it to be a competitor to the Christian religion. He saw Christianity as a threat, so he created Islam to fight against it.
Q: What is the difference between evangelicals and Islamic fundamentalists?
Evangelicals are waiting for god to come down and slaughter billions of men, women and children just because they aren't Christians. Islamic fundamentalists believe that god wants them to do the slaughtering themselves. Who has the moral authority? Is there a big difference between being the one who kills and endorsing a God who kills?
A: The real question is, is there a historical difference? People only see the last few years in history when you ask this question, so I guarantee most of your respondents will argue taht evangelical Christians are either harmless or do less damage. The reality is many of the terrorist attacks around the world have been committed by religious zealots from this group, just not as recently as by Islamic fundamentalists. One might recall the Oklahoma City bombing in that regard, which was actually rather recent. There's nothing different between the 2 groups, the only thing that separates them is a reason to cause harm. The same is true of any extremist group.
One more thing. There's nothing in either religion that stipulates that they should kill members of other religions. In fact, Islam is more closely related to Judaism than Christianity, mainly due to the New Testament being an entirely separate book with a lot of ideas about religious persecution, whereas the Koran has none.
Q: How does the author describe Muslims and the Islamic faith in his Travels? How do his descriptions reflect ?
In Travels of Marco Polo, how does the author describe Muslims and the Islamic faith in his Travels? How do his descriptions reflect his European Christian perspective? What biases does his account reveal?
A: I haven't read it before but i know that every single person who has travelled through Muslim-majority countries say that Muslim hospitality is unmatched anywhere in the world.
Q: What happens to Islamic people when they die?
I know they don't go to heaven, but I am not sure if they go to the normal hell either. If atheists go to hell, do Islamic people go there too, or is there a different hell for them?
A: First of all.. it's "Muslims" not "Islamic people"
Second, you are not God so you wouldn't know who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. There is only 1 hell and 1 heaven.
Q: How does the Islamic community feel about the latest terrorist attack in India?
I would also like to ask what is the Islamic community doing about saving their religion from the hands of these murderers who kill and destroy innocent people's lives in the name of Allah?
A: i am a muslim - and the first thing i have understood about my religion is that nothing good would ever happend to me if i did bad with someone else. i could never imagine doing things which terrorists are doing. that is not islam and they are mis guided!
i hope people of india come out of this terror and may God bless souls of those who have died.nothing could replace a lost life! there is just no justification for it.
other thing, muslims do not need to do anything. infact till the day there would be double standards and injustice, terrorists will always find a reason and justification.
i would like to ask people here when
USA kills in iraq its called colletral damage, no one dares call it CHRISTIAN terrorism ?
when ISRAEL kills in palestine, no one dares to call it JEW terrorism ?
when people are killed by RUSSIA in georgia or somewhere else, no one calls it ORTHODOX terrorism ?
when INDIAN muslims are killed at gujrat in 2002, no one called it HINDU terrorism ?
than why islamic terrorism ? is it necessary to relate terrorism with a religion ? as far as i kno terrorism is simply terror.it has no religion.
cuz before religion i believe in HUMANITY!
sadly the world and the MEDIA would not realize it and till than people would be killed the way its happening.
Q: How do women contribute to the challenges which present demographic trends pose to Islamic nations?
For my research project on Islamic nations, I started studying deeply into the topic of women and their status. I find it interesting how many have different views on the issue and would love to hear your ideas.
Please give your opinions, reasoning, and examples of. The more detail would be greatly appreciated :)
To what degree does the status and gender of women contribute to the challenges which present demographic trends pose to governments of many Islamic nations?
A: Your question implies that women are somehow "causing" the challenges in Islamic nations.
yes, women are breaking out of their gender roles and no longer want to be oppressed by dominating males. they want the right to be educated and to learn how to read. if becoming more knowledgeable is a problem, then our world is becoming a sad place.
that said, yes, there are many conflicts between people in Islamic nations because of women's issues. if you want to say women are "contributing" to the problem, then it would also be fair to say that men "created" to the problem by suppressing women in the first place
Q: How does the collision of Western liberalism with Islamic tradition in Iran affect or change the role of women
In Iran today, there is a strange collision of Western liberalism with Islamic tradition and how does that relate to the role of women in Iranian society?
Also, has an Islamic state allowed for a just state in Iran?
A: Your first answerer is obviously thinking of the US/UK installed and supported dictator (styled Shah) Pahlavi who ran a theoretically secular state. The people have always been predominantly Muslim - they overthrew the US puppet. I think it took more than just Khomeni and a few other Muslim clerics. Success in dumping the oppressors brought a pendulum swing to greater Islamicism but the pendulum will swing further toward secularism if it is not quashed.
The US was theoretically a secular state at one time too.
Iran, like most of the Middle East other than where the US has blocked or is blocking it, has seen a steady movement towards democracy and more moderate Islam. Stand out examples of democracy thwarted by the US are Palestine and Saudi.
This movement toward democracy and secularism brings with it greater freedoms and responsibilities for women.
The extreme Islamic state was as or more unjust than the US/Pahlavi but Iran is progressing which is why the US is beginning to threaten.
Q: What should we do to control Islamic terrorism in India?
We have been watching Islamic terrorism for a long time now.It is high time we did some thing ! Our secular(EUNUCH) politicians have only rhetoric answers as their arsenal! Should we need army rule in India to mainyain law and order?
A: We need to fight back and destroy this islamofascism.
The Us us sitting here and doing nothing, just imagine if we did the same with Hitler.
Q: How many countries are operating under Islamic Government today?
Please provide your sources if you can.
(Only countries that CLAIM to follow Islamic law. Whether they are hypocrites or not, is of no concern to me.)
A: Operating under Islamic Government is a contradiction in terms. Islamic Governments can barely operate their own plumbing systems.
Q: How is the Islamic society around you? How many Mosques are there in your locality?
Assalamu Alaikum.
As a Muslim and having an Islamic society around you, I would like to know how strong is your Islamic activities related to your Mosques and your society. What activities do you do as a Muslim to preserve your faith & increase the knowledge in Islam. I mean attending classess, lectures, educating, learning etc. What is the percentage of Muslims in your locality and what activities goes around you.
Jazakallah Khyr.
A: I live in Florida and our community is pretty good, though it needs improvement in certain areas (such as organization, unity etc). We have approximately 12 mosques, several halal stores/restaurants, a boutique for Muslim ladies, plenty of Muslim owned business, (Dr's,dentists, etc). Every mosque is open for all 5 prayers, has classes for kids & adults etc. As for percetntages, really it is hard to tell. I know on eid the numbers are amazing, but I cannot gauge how active those people are throughout the rest of the year.
Q: What happened to the black slaves sold in the Islamic world?
During the international slave trade that was occuring out of the sub-saharan region of Africa, blacks from all parts were being sold and taken to other places of the world. Today, there is clear evidence of this in the West as there are large black and mixed race populations in the western. However, there was also a slave trade in the east, particularly in the Arab- Islamic realm. What happened to all the blacks there? There are large black populations on the West. Why are there not any in the East (Islamic world)? what happened to them all?
A: Hi.
Many captured in East Africa were sent to Zanzibar, an island which is now part of Tanzania ruled by Arabs in those times while others went to the Emirates like Oman on the Persian Gulf.
There was enough cheap labour to be exploited in Asia in those times so a trans Indian Ocean trade in slaves was not needed.

Q: What were the regional features of Islamic art & architecture?
How was the caliphate organized?
What were the accomplishments of Islamic medicine, science, and technology?
And how would you evaluate the social status of women and slaves ad how would you compare their social status with the Greece, Rome, India, and China women and slaves?
A: Wow, huge question. Try breaking it down.
The first two I've answered somehwere else, you can look it up.
The third I know only vaguely so I don't want to give an answer.
And the fourth:
Women were allowed to inherit, own property and choose their own husbands, something other women of thier time did not have.
Slaves were to be treated with respect. They were to be given clothes similar to their owners and food similar to what their owners wore. They were allowed to have government jobs and earn their own freedom. Abusing them was punishable by law.
Q: What is the origin of the Islamic hostility toward the United States?
For year we have been at war with Islamic terrorist but no one that I know of has ever attempted to explain why they hate us. Prior to World War II we were much admired by these underdeveloped nations.
A: It's really quite obvious.
The placement of US troops on holy lands in Saudi Arabia, the 1953 CIA coup toppling the democratic government of Iran for our oil interests, the on again off again diplomacy with Iran, Bin Laden, and Iraq before the Gulf War, how we claim to be fighting for democracy but instead give support to the most despotic governments such as those of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the unnecessary invasion of Iraq in 2003, the prisoner abuses at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib, and of course our continued support of Israel.
