Q: Isn't it weird to see a muslim in normal clothing, but with a doorag?
It's worst than dressing in traditonal muslim clothing all around and with the doorag, but some Muslim dress in stylish clothes but they keep the doorag on their head. I know it's part of their religion, but it's just weird.
I don't think doorags are that fashionable. They should sacrafice their beliefs to look good.
A: It isnt part of their religion.. its part of their culture.. NOTHING in the muslim rule do they have to wear anything on their heads..
im muslim.. i never wore any doorag or anything different than any person... in fact, i hate those ugly doorags, and i hate ppl that wear them.. its just in arabian culture, not a muslim thing.

I have not used Altira's patterns, but hear they work well. The thobe I made for a gentleman started with a lengthened polo shirt pattern that I put a band collar on.
Q: Where can I buy traditional Muslim clothing?
Salaams. I'm a guy and I'm looking to buy some traditional Muslim clothing (throbes, etc). Are there any places in America where I can buy some traditional clothing? I've heard of "shukr clothing". Are there any other places like that?

A: A lot of areas in Los Angeles(???) and chicago and new york have areas that sell Islamic clothing. If you don't live there try asking you Imam.
Q: Why do some people find Muslim clothing offensive?
I'm a Muslim woman and I wear a head scarf on my head,
Yet I know that there are people who beleieve that I should not wear it in the west, and find it offensive. I don't understand this because it doesn't give them physical pain does it?
I am not offended when I see Jewish men or Aimish in their traditional costume...or when I see teenage cloths or punks, or women in mini skirts...(And most people are not aswell)
So why is my clothing more offensive?
A: In the West, there is the concept of freedom of religion. However, some people interpret that to mean that it should imply freedom FROM religion (except their own).
The practice of wearing hijab is a well-established one in Islam, and it actually has its roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition of modesty. Its been the secularization of Western civilisation that has created intolerance of certain religious traits.
It's not just Muslims that have this problem. Southern Baptists have been criticised for adopting the doctrine of wives being subordinate to their husbands, even though it has Biblical foundation. Roman Catholics get criticised for its anti-abortion, anti-contraseptives stance, even though that comes from Papal proclamation. And those are the two largest groups in the United States.
The problem that Muslims have been facing has been a result of the tragedies over the last decade bringing a new awareness of Islam, one that unfortunately includes some rather incorrect information that has been fueled by a small subsection of Muslims. The Qur'an discusses modesty, and that is interpreted by many Muslims as requiring the wearing of hijab. In some Muslim nations, that has been taken to the point of legal requirements, which is an anathema to freedom of religion, despite many people who wish to impose their own religious agendas on the nation.
My advice is to become accustomed to the reality that you cannot please everyone. Do as you feel what Islam and the Qur'an teaches, and that will ultimately be your saving grace. I wish you well.

Was he getting ready to prey when that picture was taken and what was he doing in Somalia in 2006?
A: obama is not a muslim. it's just another smear tactic that's not going to stick.
obama was on a 5-nation tour in africa.
he was dressed as a local because it's not uncommon for visiting dignitaries to dress like the local people.
both presidents bush and clinton have done it.
and so has hillary and chelsea.
Q: why muslims makes their clothing always an issue when they're on a non-muslim country?
i don't see myself being a racist on this issue, but i know specially in middle east countries that even if your not a muslim you are required, specially for women, to wear their traditional muslim clothes. like in france, i learned from the news that this is an issue; they are requested not to wear their cover head but they're not following it. they are making too much issue on it and i think they don't realize that france is not a muslim country which requires their traditional clothes.in some part of middle east country, non muslim immigrants or workers or whatever are required to wear these muslim traditional clothes without making an issue. i hope muslims also realize this subject on clothing when they are on a non-muslim country.

A: in islam,women are required to cover their whole body except hands and face(the face veil isn't necessary)..it's not compulsory that you've to wear the head to toe covering burkhas and abayas..all the clothes must be loose,covering the whole body and should be neat and clean..so you can still wear those pretty skirts,shirts and jean, as long as you fulfil all these requirements

I think u r new here because there are a lot of muslim stores where you can get a hijab, muslim clothing, Quran and many more thing. I'll give you some addresses:
1. there is a store right behind this masjid it has a website too http://www.islamicfoundation.ca/
the address is 441 Nugget Rd. the main intersection is Markham and Nugget and when you turn on Nugget go down a bit and there is the stor the name is Hijab Fashions and also there is another islamic store beside it, but im not too sure about that one
2. There is another one beside Abu Bakr Mosque it also has a website :http://www.smacanada.ca/sma/
the main intesection of this mosque is Lawerence and Midland
the store beside is called Madina Fashions I think

Q: Muslim clothing for the Sims 2?
Where can I find muslim clothing for the Sims 2? I know someone has to have a themed game out there and been looking for it. I can't find it anywhere. But I am actually looking for the more modest clothing, especially for the women. The headscarves they wear, the long covering clothing....anyone know where I can find some or request some from a skinner?
