Q: Muslim countries?
I have been told that Islamic Studies is a compulsory subject up to High school level in Muslim countries.
Does it apply to any other country as well; where the major religion of a country is the compulsory part of the academics?

A: It is not common in all Islamic countries, it depends on the political law in the country.
In Palestine, there is a relegious education from the first grade till the secondary high school (twelvth grade) as a compulsory curriculum. But it is not compulsory for the non-muslims. For example, in the cities with citisens from both Muslims and Christians like Bethlehem city, the Christian student does not attend the relegious lectures and they have their own relegious lectures.
At university studies, the Islamic Studies is not compulsory subject and it depends on the university law itself.

Q: Why do Western countries always give into Muslim demands to change their laws to satisfy muslim?
If westerner go to the muslim countries the law is not negotible. Will Muslim one day make the whole world fast during ramadan, including the U.S?
Mr Morden go eat in public in one of those countries during ramadan and see what happens to you. I have been to many Muslim countries.
A: I think the point you are trying to convey is that often times Muslims balk at western laws based on their beliefs - such as head coverings in schools or veils in driver's license photos, some even refuse certain work responsibilities based on their religion. Irritating isn't it?
While you may not be forced to fast during Ramadan in a Muslim country there are still expectations that you must meet while traveling there.
Here's the thing - we are not talking about travel for a short time. We are generally talking about people who have chosen to live permanently in Western cultures - and I'm sorry but when you decide to move to a country then you abide by their laws period. Their laws do no bend to meet you. If I were to move to France I could not insist that an employer give me US holidays off with pay because I believe I should have them off.
Part of immigration is assimilation into the new culture you have CHOSEN to become a part of. If this new culture does not fit your religious needs then here's a thought - don't move there.
Q: Why is it illegal to build new churches, synagogues and non-Muslim places of worship in most Muslim countries?
If building new mosques was banned in western countries, what would the Muslim community say?
Juexue- I heard even in secular Turkey and Algeria it's illegal, and they're definately moderate compared to Wahabbists.
A: [Making of Church or synagogue is not permissible in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, because firstly it is the Holy Land of Islam.]

I heard about a try in Iran, before the Ayatollah Revolution...I heard some former projects in Lebanon and Tunisia (even with admirers of Atatürk's achievements), but dictatures and wars have ruined them all.

only industrialized countries can establish the secular/laic state.This isn't religion's problems but modernism and economic revolution(causes) forces the peoples to be laic/secular .As for me,for example,Iran will be transformed to the laic/secular state while they are more industrial country. However, Arab countries haven't any chance about that but maybe 50 years later ...
Q: Do Arab men in some Muslim countries sit down when the have to take a piss?
Not trying to offend anyone, but I was told that in some countries Muslim men sit down when the use the bathroom. I never been to a Muslim country, so I don't know. Is this true? What is the logic behind this?
A: yes. Many Arab muslim men sit down because the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) use to because its more clean, and muslims are to follow his actions and its also more hygienic.
Also standing while peeing sometimes, the pee splash back on you and thats a sin in Islam because that makes us unclean. We have to stay clean in Islam.
Q: Why don't the Muslim countries broadcast images of Jesus?
I know it's a bit late, but I was just thinking about how the Muslim countries in the Middle-East got so upset over a picture of Muhammad. Instead of rioting and burning flags, why don't they just retaliate by showing pictures of Jesus? Maybe put him in a clown suit so that it's even more offensive. Seriously though, why do these people go for such overkill on everything?

While this may be a day of mourning in America, hundredss of thousands in places like Pakistan, Palistine, Saudi Arabia, Syria and other muslim countries celebrate this day and the attacks on America. Yet the mainstream media remains silent on this.
Why does the media in general fail to report on this, and what are your feelings?

As for me, it would have been better for the United states to have good relationships with 20 Arab(Muslim) countries than to to have whole world as an enemy and be friends with one Israel.
Also, we would not have to pay $ 3-6 billion of taxpayers dollars to support Israel. This country is like a puppet for Israel.

A: I agree with you. Far more could be done to encourage peace throughout the region by establishing amiable relationships with our potential enemies, than by maintaining our irrationally expensive and morally corrupt justifications with Israel - our supposed friend.

Q: Is not UNO became irrelevent, impotent to implement its resolutions against non Muslim countries like Israel?
UNO has miserably failed to initiate any action against countries like Israel but became a tool in the hands of christian countries like USA, UK, France, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Netherlands etc to further their hegemonistic designs and loot Muslim nations' wealth. UNO was prompt in imposing sanctions on Iraq as it is a Muslim country but did not have guts to implement a single resolution against Israel. I wonder why this simple thing is not understood by Muslims. In short, UNO is a tool to destroy Muslim nations. Russia is also not a friend of Muslim countries and Muslims must know that 25% population of Israel are Russian emigrants. China is there but it has its own problems and therefore they too cannot be relied upon. Muslims themselves have toevolve a programme to defend themselves against the conspiracies of Jews and Christians, who are admittedly sworn enemies of Islam.

What right do muslims have to live in democratic, peaceful, christian, liberal western countries? What right does the west have to interfere legally, socially, militarilly in muslim countries?

What I meant was that - Why do western countries not stay within their own borders and not crawl into muslim countries and why do muslim countries not take care of their own things and take care of their own society so that noone could threaten them either from west or within
A: The problem here is , the ethics of the Muslim rulers is based on the religion. So there are extremist for the rigid rituals and ruling with religious beliefs . They are skeptical and orthodox and involved with stern interference in the ruling administrative machinery. Simultaneously there are few amongst their community who are liberal and with their global thinking , they do not mix up, They identify religion and administrative work seperately. They left the extremist forum or migrated to other countries where they feel the value of democratic process. Either Muslims or any other religion, they do not preach to do things in a wrong manner. But the interpretation made by the ethnic extremist are the power mongers. But such phase will not last long . Take the example of Nazis and Yehudi's, which prolonged for years together and ended with the world war II.
Besides, on the planet, the natural wealth is NOT eqaully distributed and every country has to rely on others to share their excess wealth to other who has that item scarce .
In the present day , with the globalization, distribution of natural wealth such as mineral, food articles, oil,etc is necessitated due to scarcity and for economic distribution, one cannot think of isolation . The democratic values helps a lot for this logic hence widely manifested .But it cannot be segregated with the religion. There are countries in the world where there are more than 20 languages are spoken and more than 50 religions are followed . They preach for UNITY IN DIVERSITY.
The essence of the matter is religion should not be mixed up as ethnicity , and ruling party should rule as per the merits of country's requirements. IF THE HARMONY IS MAINTAINED BY ALL THE COMMUNITIES IN ANY COUNTRY , QUESTION MAY NOT ARISE FOR DISTRIBUTION AS PER THE RACE AND RELIGION .
But this is what is the history which goes of its own and cannot be changed .
Q: How are gay people treated in Muslim countries?
I know Christians hate us but at least they don't officially kill us.
However, I heard gay people's rights and status are much worse in Muslim culture.
Are gay people in extreme Muslim countries such as Iran or Saudi being executed when they turn out to be gay?
How do they treat gay and what acts are violating gay people's human rights in those countries?
How can we as LGBT people help them?
A: Well here in Indonesia, even this is the largest muslim country there're no written discriminate rules about being gay. We even have 1 national gay magazine, and forums for gay people, whom many of the members are muslim.
But as always there must still be some problems like humiliating, mocking and stuff like that, but there're no major acts that really violated only gay people's human right by the goverment that i've known.
Well LGBT can help all of us(as we are doing it ourself) by keep fighting and informate the world for our right that we are still as human as everybody else not because our sexual preference :)

Q: If the West developed an alternative energy source, should we seal our borders to hostile Muslim countries?
There is some talk in the think tanks that it would be a good idea to:
1. Develop an alternative energy source. (we can and will do it someday)
2. Deport all Muslims who preach violence.
3. Leave all Muslim countries.
4. Close our borders to any further immigrants from Muslim countries.
Would this be a good idea?
A: now that would be a wonderful idea, at last Muslims can live in peace! and so can everyone else!

Supreme - several Jews in the United States were convicted of attempting to bomb mosques here after 9/11. Many mosques were vandalized and some Jews were implicated in that too.
