Q: muslim women?
I am wondering how muslim women feel when they see a jewish or christian women with their head covered and modestly dressed?
I am asking because I cover my head and get more respect from muslim men, than from most 'christians' and because I get a lot of muslim women staring.
Thanks.
A: I think there is a a women who wants to maintain her modesty and has great strength and courage. ;)
Q: How do muslim women feel about the hijab(veil) ?
I know some that some women wear it because they are forced to, but there's also other women who wear it because they want to how do most muslim women stand on this issue ? Do they want to wear it ?If yes is it about marking your difference from other people? Also, why do we see glittering hijab's nowadays?Isn't it contradictory to want to hide the women's beauty but then hide it with expensive good looking veils?
A: When You Look At Me
When You Look At Me
What do you see when you look at me
Do you see someone limited, or someone free
All some people can do is just look and stare
Simply because they can't see my hair
Others think I am controlled and uneducated
They think that I am limited and un-liberated
They are so thankful that they are not me
Because they would like to remain 'free'
Well free isn't exactly the word I would've used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused
They think that I do not have opinions or voice
They think that being hooded isn't my choice
They think that the hood makes me look caged
That my husband or dad are totally outraged
All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is a tear
Not because I have been stared at or made fun of
But because people are ignoring the one up above
On the day of judgment they will be the fools
Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules
Maybe the guys won't think I am a cutie
But at least I am filled with more inner beauty
See I have declined from being a guy's toy
Because I won't let myself be controlled by a boy
Real men are able to appreciate my mind
And aren't busy looking at my behind
Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause
The role that we play definitely deserves applause
I will be recognized because I am smart and bright
And because some people are inspired by my sight
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility
In the back of their mind they wish they were me
We have the strength to do what we think is right
Even if it means putting up a life long fight
You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt
We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt
So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated
We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated
We are the ones that are free and pure
We're free of STD's that have no cure
So when people ask you how you feel about tha hood
Just sum it up by saying 'baby its all good'

i am a sunday school teacher u are to wear it to sunday school because you are going to learn about islam and in islam you have to cover your hair and wear baggy long clothes so it does not show off your body shape so out of respect girls wear in sunday school but take it off after but it would be best to keep it on and ur right about the glittery scarf you not supoosed to bring attention to ur self i wear normal dark colors or colors that dont stick out much and its not only dress wise hijab also comes with being modest lowering ur gaze not talking on a loud voice being calm but you can to still be very social but with men set boundaries becuase it not modest and your not supossed to stare directly in their eyes or no physcial touching because it can lead to thoughts bad ones and thoes thoughts come from the devil and in islam or any religion you avoid the devil in anyway
Q: what are some major countries where Muslim women are persecuted and how were they persecuted?
I'm doing a report on the persecution of Muslim women. I can't find anything. There's a lot on the persecution of Christians and Hindus, but nothing on this. I know some of the things; they can't go out in public without being covered or without a man, but I need more.
A: The reason you can't find anything is because Islam gives women rights. The media wants to smear Islam, so they make up stuff. Christians who are trying to stop people from becoming Muslims make up stories ... you will find individuals doing wrong things to women (such as abusive men), but that is not sanctioned by the religion. Even if you read the whole Quran you won't find anything. You can take a verse out of context, but that is not what you are supposed to do.
What do you want to do for your project? Smear Islam? - Or find abused women in Islamic nations?
I would recommend you check the Arab nations - they used to bury their daughters alive (before they converted to Islam). They still keep some of their old habits, such as forcing the women to marry - but that is cultural and not religious.
It's true for Saudi Arabia that women have to be covered in public & with a man - and might be true for other Gulf countries, but is not the case in all of the Muslim countries. It's not so in Turkey.
BTW Wiseman - you should change your username to "knows nothing about the world" man.
Q: Any idea as to why muslim women are attractive?
I am currently crushing over my Palestinian friend. She wears a buknuk that I think makes her look irresistable, along with her olive coloured skin. I also think that the buknuk makes her look mysterious, but that is just me. I just want to know anyone else's opinion on why muslim women are attractive.
A: probably because we cover ourselves and respect ourselves and
dont drink alcohol or smoke and wreck the condition of our skin, hair teeth and nails. oh-and because we are decent wives and mothers and look after our families whilst educating ourselves on the basis of our brains not our looks.
please always treat this sister with utmost respect if she is your friend asalaamalaikum x
Q: Muslim and not sure how to meet muslim women that are not super conservative?
I'm a liberal muslim. I drink (in moderation) and like to go to parties and have a good time. I wouldn't mind meeting a muslim woman, but they always cover and are very conservative and they just want to jump into marriage. So I keep dating non muslim women. I want to date a muslim woman, but really, how is someone raised in america who is liberal supposed to deal with that?
A: don't tell anyone, but I'm the same way, umm try some Muslim dating sites, but its true unless you get like a leb whore, your better off cleaning up, getting straight with God, repenting, and getting married
I'd do the repenting part sooner rather than later, you know, the Bedouins are building the lofty buildings as we speak.
Q: Muslim women, how do you dress modestly without looking scruffy?
Any general tips?
Western clothes seem to lead to either a slutty look or a suruffy look. but even when they create outfits out of mainly western clothes muslim women somehow manage to look modestly chick. How do you do it?
A: Hi.
My sister is Muslim and when I was a teen I went to live with her and her husbands family. I learned how to dress modestly but still not look like i was wearing a burka!
Trick number one:
Your clothes must fit perfectly. They can't be to tight or too loose.
Number two:
Classic styling.
Mid calf skirts or dresses (no pants) with flat to low heeled shoes and tops or blouses with long or three quarter sleeves and just a regular neckline (not scooped or turtleneck. No extremes). The blouse should be long enough to cover the waistband of the skirt, but not so long that it comes down over your butt and might ride up. The wrinkles draw more attention to your butt than your butt does in a skirt. Does that make sense? It goes along with number 1, your clothes fitting perfectly.
Number three:
No patterns. Use solid colors. Not too bright. pastels and earth-tones is what I went with.
Sometimes for occasions or gatherings I would have to wear a scarf on my head. I always used a solid color triangle scarf, like a babushka, that matched my outfit and tied my long hair up in a bun so it was all covered with the scarf.
I got a lot of compliments and "thank you"s from the mothers, grandmothers and aunts. They knew I wasn't Muslim and really appreciated my looking "respectable" for their dinner parties and holidays.
EDIT:
One other thing. Underwear.
Always wear a complete set of underwear that fit perfectly. Bra, panties, slip and pantyhose or tights. These help you feel completely dressed and more respectable and that confidence will show through in your actions.
Q: What is the name of the long black garment many Muslim women wear?
I notice many Muslim women wearing an ankle length black garment that kind of resembles a robe. It seems as if (sometimes anyway) the garment covers other clothing. Does anyone know the name of this garment?
A: Not completely sure...perhaps an abaya or a jilbab
Q: What are you awarenesses of the conditions enjoyed or endured by Muslim Women worldwide?
What are your direct personal experiences of the conditions Muslim women live under?
How do these conditions vary throughout the world?
A: I have citizenship in a Muslim country. It bothers me that many people here seem to think that all Muslim women get stoned at the drop of a hat. The country I lived in didn't have stonings. My female friends there have good jobs and will wear western clothes and a bikini on the beach. They inherit. They drive. They own property... and so on.
Q: Why do muslim women have to hide their hair?
They don't show their hair to other people and they hide their hair with a wrapper. Why do muslim women have to hide their hair? Is it a command from the God?
A: Shame as they do have beautiful hair, But to answer your question they do not want other men to be led astray by being tempted to Covet or Commit Adultry or Fornication (Thoughts) By showing men their beauty, the idea is, if a man cannot see how beautiful they are, they wont think about it.
Q: What Percentage of Muslim women CHOOSE to wear the Hijab?
is there any poll which you have found of the women who are true to their religion and choose to wear the hijab out of free will??
if you dont have a source it wont help at all. unless youre a muslim. thnx.
preferably in the western world.
A: Well according to this....
"51 percent of Muslims in the United States to wear a hijab all or most of the time." But that doesnt really say out of these women which ones CHOOSE to do so on there own, vs those who are forced to by family.

Q: Do all muslim women have to wear a hijab?
I have heard if they don't wear one, they are not considered a real muslim. I don't know whether that is true or not, since I'm a not a muslim. I am just wondering. Usually the women I see who wear those are from Ethiopia, or some other part of Africa. Is it a part of their religion or tradition?
A: No, hijabs are not mandatory for all Muslim women. It is by choice that some wear one. There's some conflict of opinion within the Muslim community on whether or not it is compulsory. There is a single verse in the Quran that suggests it. It advices women to cover their chests with garment and to be modest but the word for that garment also means hijab in Arabic. Personally, I don't believe that Muslim women are supposed to cover their hair as long as they are dressed modestly. Hijab come from Middle Eastern culture. Many countries in Africa are predominantly Muslim and have been for centuries but didn't start wearing the hijab until recently. I believe that the influence of the hijab came from the exposure to Arab Muslims in the last few decades.
Q: Do Muslim women have to ask their Husbands permission?
I am just wondering if Muslim men have to ask their husbands permission everytime they go somewehre or ask them if theyr can do something?? Is this what Allah intended? If so then why is this? Are Mulsim women allowed to think for themselves, can they not have hobbies? Or do things that does not include their Husband?
A: Hi, a muslim woman must obey her husband no matter what he says (unless he tells her something which goes against her religion in which case she shouldn't listen, but considering that her husband would also be muslim that's not likely to happen!) Some men wouldn't mind their wives having hobbies as long as it doesn't involve other men, just a group of women but if they do say she can't have a hobby she has to obey him.
:-)
Q: Searching: A Book about a Newlywed wife who goes to an Islamic country and interviews Muslim women?
My supervisor suggested the most interesting book, but unfortunately she cannot remember the title. The book is about a newlywed couple who goes to an Islamic country. (My supervisor said that it was probably Afghanistan, but wasn't sure.) The wife lives among the Muslim women and finds out about their lives. She said that it was written a few decades ago, probably around the 1970s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A: I'm not sure if such a woman would be regarded as acting in violation of terms of services and/or community guidelines as perceived by feminists.
Q: Why do Muslim Women get a bashing from everyone because they are modest and dont flaunt their body??
Have people not seen the statues of Mary (peace be upon her)?? She is covered up in every portrait/ statue. And God has made her the most honourable woman of all mankind. She should be the example for all women not just Muslim women.
If you have ever been to an Arabian country you would know that some westerners controvene every Islamic law, and still they never recieve any varbal abuse
when i said 'bashing' i meant verbally. Bravo to the ones who never picked it up.
A: Yep. There's a lot to be said for modesty.
It's because there will always be people who are looking to persecute others who are different. No amount of education will ever change some people's unnatural inclination to be downright rude and abusive.
Best wishes
Q: How come Muslim women don't put a hijab?
I mean Muslim women in Syria & Lebanon?
I went there and Muslim women are almost the same as Western ones, even Muslim women with mini-skirts :S What's going on?!
A: Hey Michelle..
It's Syria & Lebanon, what did you expect them to be dressed like Saudi women? Syrian & Lebanese people are more secular and yes I've been there before..
Lebanon is more secular but Syria is turning very secular too, less then 40% of the population put a hijab.. In Aleppo & Damascus the hijab isn't worn..
